SANTIAGO.- The member of Parliament, Laura Soto (PPD), said that she feels that the Appeals Court of Valparaíso "has not considered the wicked consequences" that the sentence, which has removed legal protection for her alleged participation in the public fraud offense, could bring.
According to her, the ruling "is like a sentence from the XV century, when there was group solidarity, and an entire group was condemned for the acts of one, and so I believe that here, if this becomes a doctrine, well just imagine the danger that confronts democracy".
This is how Soto asserted that these kinds of resolutions could affect future and other political members, including those who occupy the Presidency.
She also ensured that she never knew about the payments made with funds from the "Planes de Generación de Empleo", which are said to have been received by her comrades.
In addition, she took the opportunity to state that the president of her party, Sergio Bitar, informed her that the PPD knows that this is unjust resolution for a high-standing parliamentary member.
