Man murdered his wife and then took his own life in Panguipulli

PANGUIPULLI.- A man murdered his wife early this morning in the shack that they shared in the town of Caricuicui, just to the north of Panguipulli.

The woman, who was identified as 32 year old Clara Llancapi Trecareño, received multiple stab wounds from her spouse.

After committing the crime, the attacker, identified as 34 year old César Punoi Toledo, committed suicide by hanging himself.

The act is the first case of "femicide" that has been registered this year, since the formation of the "Región de los Ríos" area.

The couple's three children, ages 12, 7 and 1, were found in the home at the time of the crime.

The District Attorney of the "Los Ríos" region announced that no reports of domestic violence had been made to the District Attorney’s Office and that the attacker had no previous record.
