SANTIAGO.- The Finance minister, Andrés Velasco, seemed satisfied by the deal that set a 6.9% salary increase for the public sector and also fixed a bonus for ending negotiations of $160 thousand Chilean pesos.
Regarding the denial of Raúl de la Puente, president of the ANEF, to sign the agreement, his attorney argued on Radio Cooperativa that during recent years, the president of the Chile's national labor center (CUT) has been the one in charge of coordinating what he defined as "the public sector table".
Velasco added that there are 14 different guilds within the public sector and that "we always want these agreements to gather support from the greatest amount of people".
The Finance minister also referred to the possibility that the ANEF may look to change to the agreement, arguing, "it is a project which represents the maximum effort that the government has put forth and that has been agreed upon with the workers".
