SANTIAGO.- At the 2007 ENADE inaugural conference, Finance Minister, Andrés Velasco, reviewed the current state of the Chilean economy, with no new announcements or surprises.
Showing investment rates, growth and exchange rates as well as other data, Velasco gave a general view of the country's economic situation, which is slowing it from advancing further towards development.
Regarding the matter, the minister made a reference to José De Gregorio's recent appointment to the position of Central Bank President, explaining that inflation must be carefully watched.
Velasco added that this was why the President of the Republic's designations are important since, according to the state secretary, the matter must be pursued with professional attention and academic excellence.
The minister also mentioned the challenges to come, including better corporate government regulation, on a private, as well as public, level.
