RANCAGCUA.- After going missing for nearly 17 hours, the Special Operation Group  of the Chilean Police (GOPE) located 9 year-old Esteban C.M, a resident of the Pequeño Cottolengo home in Rancagua.

The child, who had been reported missing since yesterday after participating in a field trip along with his fellow residents (all with developmental disabilities), was found 4 kilometers from the place where had been lost, where he presumably spent the night.

Once he was found, the boy was immediately taken to the Rancaugua Regional Hospital to be examined for injuries.  He appears, however, to be in good condition.

The investigation should also be able to determine whether any third party was involved in the minor’s disappearance.

The boy’s whereabouts became unknown during a field trip in the sector of El Parrón, which is located in the Ruta del Ácido foothills in the Lirios region of Requinoa municipality.
