SANTIAGO.- The Ministry of Interior has officially announced that all public, military and safety and justice buildings must fly their flags at half-mast on December 21st.

An announcement from the ministry reads: "This December 21st marks the 100th anniversary of the massacre of workers that took place at the Santa María School in Iquique, where an undetermined number of people were murdered while they performed their work duties. This painful and unjustifiable event weighs heavily in the memory of our people".

The document indicates that the entity "has ordered the Provincial Governors to prepare all offices, public organizations as well as military and justice units to raise their national flags to half mast on the 21st of this month".
