SANTIAGO.- Senator Adolfo Zaldívar received various gestures of support this morning after being expelled from the Christian Democratic Party (DC) last night. Zaldívar had been a member of the party for 40 years.
The first person to arrive at his home in the neighborhood of Vitacura was the former presidential candidate for the UDI, Joaquín Lavín, who showed up around 10:35 AM.
Ten minutes later, Senator Fernando Flores, leader of the ChilePrimero Party arrived along with another supporting member of the movement, Jorge Schaulsohn. Schaulsohn had been expelled from the PPD after accusing inside members of the Concertación of having an "ideology of corruption".
Zaldívar was removed from the DC due to statements that he had made at a board of directors meeting, led by Soledad Alvear, and for his decision not to support financing for Transantiago. The former validated allegations that Zaldívar worked in collusion with the Alliance.
