SANTIAGO.- The president of the Supreme Court, Enrique Tapia, arrived very early at the presidential palace of La Moneda in order to bid farewell to President Michelle Bachelet before leaving his position on January 7th, 2008.
The head of the high court said that his visit (which lasted 45 minutes) was to offer a "formal goodbye salute" to the President, with whom he had "a very pleasant conversation".
At the meeting, which consisted of a discussion of "general matters" according to Tapia, the Head of State wished him "happiness" in his future away from the Supreme Court.
The head magistrate also shared that he took the opportunity to express his wishes of "success for the future and for her administration" to Bachelet.
Enrique Tapia reiterated that he cannot give a self-assessment of his performance in office and that he preferred to leaves this to "the rest of the people".
As he left La Moneda, the high court president stated, "I leave satisfied with the work accomplished, I don't know if I have completed everything, there are always many things underway, but I think that we have managed to make some advances, especially, I think, regarding transparency and openness".
