SANTIAGO.- Nicolas Massú is off to a good start this season. After making it to the quarter finals at the tournament in Auckland, Chile's number two tennis player climbed 11 spots in the ATP ranking to currently hold position number 69.

Massú will debut at the Australian Open against American player James Blake (no. 13).  The match has been scheduled for 2:00 AM (time in Chile) tomorrow morning.

The winner of this match will then go on to play the winner of the match between American player Michael Russell (no. 101) and Italian player Fabio Fognini (n. 94).

Massú has gone up against Blake twice, both games resulting victorious for the Chilean player. The most recent match between the two was last year at the Rome Masters Series.

Meanwhile, Fernando González continues at number 7 in the ATP ranking and will debut no earlier that 5:30 AM against Greek player Konstantinos Economidis (no. 147), a rival whom González defeated the only other time they have played.

González, Chile's number one player, is defending 700 points at this tournament, after reaching the final round last year where he was defeated by Roger Federer.
