SANTIAGO.- Chilean tennis player Fernando González (ATP no. 7) managed to close out the match against Hyung-Taik Lee (no. 42) with two aces. González was down 30-40 with the scoreboard at 5-4 in his favor when he unleashed the two perfect serves, bringing an end to the match and propelling himself through to the third round of the Australian Open.

The Santiago native had to fight to triumph over his Asian rival. It took him an entire 2 hours and 36 minutes to start taking back the match that he had been losing. González lost the first set 4-6, but then stepped up his game to seize the next three 6-3, 6-2 and 6-4.

As he began the match against Lee, González was encouraged by a noisy and extensive crowd of Chilean fans who offered him support at every moment. Lee could have posed a threat due to his impressive offense even though González had defeated Lee during two previous encounters at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and last year's Bejing ATP tournament.

González will now go up against Croatian player Marin Cilic (no. 57) for the first time.
