VILLARREAL.- Bad news keeps on coming for Villarreal winger Matías Fernández.
After playing for almost 30 minutes in the 0-0 tied match against Barcelona for the Copa del Rey quarterfinals today, the Chilean player suffered a relapse of pain in his abductor muscle injury.
In light of this, the doctor for Coach Manuel Pellegrini's team has decided to leave Fernández out of this Sunday's match against Real Madrid.
The injury continues to dampen Fernandez's possibility to continue on the team and demonstrate his true talent, which gained him the award of Best Player of the Americas during 2006.
But not news all is bad for Villarreal's "Yellow Submarine" team, since Pellegrini will be able to send in Mexican player Guille Franco for the match against Real Madrid.
Defensive players Javi Venta and Gonzalo Rodríguez could also return, along with Rubén Gracia "Cani".
