SANTIAGO.- Early this morning, officers from the 16th Police Station in La Reina arrested two individuals who, hours earlier, had stolen close to a million pesos in cosmetics, medications and cash from drugstores in the eastern part of the capital city.

According to reports, the group was made up of three suspects, one of whom managed to escape from law enforcement officers.

The first heist occurred at a Salcobrand pharmacy located at 330 Manquehue Norte. The suspects threatened store employees who were working at the time and then made off with money and various articles of merchandise.

Just minutes later, the group of assailants arrived on the corner of Bilbao and Tomás Moro where, after smashing the front window, they attempted to rob an Ahumada drugstore.

While attempting to flee however, a police car called in to report the incident and proceeded to arrest the intruders.

Police are now searching for the only suspect who managed to escape.
