Deputies sail in front of Hito 1 and thank the government for its support

The president of the Foreign Affairs commission, Renán Fuenteabla, reiterated that the visit to the area "s not to provoke"Lima and that deputies are only fulfilling their duty.

ARICA.- After concluding their marine visit to the Line of Concord on the “Ortiz” Navy patrol boat, Defense and Foreign Affairs deputies reiterated their right to visit the border with Peru and thanked the government for supporting their activity.


The deputies also denounced criticism generated by the trip and denied that the activity could be interpreted as a hostile act towards Lima.


“It is not a provocation, we are fulfilling out duty”, stated the president of Foreign Affairs, Renán Fuentealba.


The Christian Democracy party deputy maintained, “as deputies, we have a constitutional obligation to confront these matters, and to do so we must enlighten and inform ourselves to the full extent possible”.


Deputy Iván Moreira (UDI) said, “the government has done a good job of validating and fully backing this visit”.
