SANTIAGO.- The activation of a silent alarm prevented a robbery from taking place at a Banco Santander branch located at 11865 in the Camino El Alba shopping center in the Dominicos neighborhood of Las Condes.

According to police, the incident occurred at 8:20 AM this morning when four armed individuals arrived in a white Mazda and parked in front of the bank to wait for the security guard to arrive.

While the robbery was taking place however, a large squad of police officers was dispatched to the scene after a silent alarm at the bank was activated.

The robbers had also been seen by security guards at a supermarket nearby.

As police arrived, two of the suspects began to flee on foot while the others escaped using the vehicle they had arrived in.

Officials from the National Police Force, as well as the Metropolitan Theft Investigation Department, are currently searching for the individuals.
