Carlos Larraín: "The Concertación has already decided on its candidate"

SANTIAGO.-  After the Secretary-General of Government, Francisco Vidal, offered a fervent defense of Ricardo Lagos Escobar’s attributes as a presidential candidate, the president of the National Renovation (RN), Carlos Larrain, assured that, in his opinion, the Concertación has already decided on their representative  for the 2009 elections, alluding to the former President.

During an interview with Radio Agricultura, the RN leader said, “if one of Michelle Bachelet`s ministers defends Ricardo Lagos with that much force, it means that they have already been chosen”.

Nevertheless, Larraín reiterated that, from his perspective, the Concertación is making a “mistake”, since the former President´s possible campaign would find itself challenged by some of the “star projects” of his administration, such as Transantiago and the south-bound train.
