SANTIAGO.- Following the numerous inconveniences suffered by Chilean State Railways (EFE) users as a result of the current worker strike, the president of labor union Nº 10, Juan Carlos Bernal, has denied that employees are trying to sabotage the entity.

Bernal´s intervention came in response to statements made by the corporate manager of EFE, Jorge Hinostroza, who claimed that the company is investigating the degree of responsibility and sanctions that will be applied for the interruptions that have been caused  by the cancellation of service to electrical energy traction machines.

With regards to the accusations, Bernal stated that “the labor union does not condone actions of that nature, aimed at sabotaging the company”.

As a result of the strike, the Santiago-San Fernando and Santiago-Chillán services remain cancelled, although the Metrotren service to Rancagua was reinstated yesterday.
