SANTIAGO.- Just as had been predicted, President Michelle Bachelet arrived at the former National Congress building today to participate in a memorial service for the deceased head of the Chamber of Deputies, Juan Bustos.
The President arrived just after 10:20 AM, wearing a dark blue two-piece suit. In the room of honor at the historic building, Bachelet met up with the ministers of her political committee, as well as the rest of the members of her cabinet.
Although members of the press were not allowed to enter the building due to an order issued by the Chamber of Deputies allowing only cameras to be admitted, the Executive spokesperson announced that the Head of State and the members of the committee would honorably guard the coffin for 15 minutes.
In addition to relatives, who were offered the President’s deepest condolences, National Police Chief Eduardo Gordon, former Chancellor Enrique Silva Cimma and the president of the Christian Democracy party, Soledad Alvear, were also present.
