SANTIAGO.- A cold front is expected to move in starting on Wednesday of this week following the storms that covered the central Chile this past weekend.
The forecast was announced by the on-duty Chief at the National Department of Meteorology, Bárbara Tapia, on Radio ADN. Tapia stated that the arrival of the low temperatures has been delayed due to cloud cover over the central region of the country.
“We are talking about a cold front that could be quite serious. The air mass is completely different and there is a combination of two factors; a mass of cold air and clear nights. All of the heat that is accumulated during the day will be lost at night”, she explained.
The meteorologist added that there is no precipitation forecasted for the capital city over the next five days, except for the showers observed near the foothills this morning.
