SANTIAGO.- After several months of negotiations and meetings, the Royal Spanish Federation of Football has confirmed that the country's national team, which is currently the reigning champion of Europe, will indeed go up against Chile.

The formal confirmation of the international match, which has been scheduled for November 19th, arrived to Harold Mayne-Nicholls, the president of the National Professional Football Association (ANFP), late last night in Istanbul after the end of the friendly international matches, where Turkey managed to defeat the Chilean team 1-0 while Spain conquered Denmark with a score of 3-0.

Negotiations for the match included a dinner meeting in Spain between Mayne-Nicholls, Ángel María Villar and Jorge Pérez (the president and secretary general of the Royal Spanish Federation of Football) on July 29th of this year.

Before the match against Chile however, Spain will have to go up against the national teams from Bosnia, Armenia, Estonia and Belgium as part of one of the European eliminatory groups for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Meanwhile, prior to their confrontation with the reigning champions of Europe, the Chilean national team will play against Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Argentina, in addition to a friendly match that has been scheduled for late September against Mexico.
