SANTIAGO.- Following his matches against Australia at the Davis Cup, Nicolás Massú is scheduled to debut at the Aracaju Challenger (Brazil, 75 thousand dollars, clay) this week in hopes of racking up points and improving his ATP ranking.

Today, the Viña del Mar native is up slightly after climbing one position to ATP Nº 106 on the overall ranking.

Massú, who will debut at the Brazilian tournament against Brazilian player Ricardo Melo, currently possesses 450 points, leaving him only 17 points away from returning to the list of top 100 players in the circuit.

Meanwhile, Fernando González has registered no change in his ranking and continues at Nº 11, although he is very close to catching up with James Blake, who currently leads him by 5 points. The Beijing silver medal winner will have an opportunity to move even closer to his U.S. rival if he performs well at the ATP tournament in Tokyo, where he is scheduled to play his first match on Wednesday.

Paul Capedeville, on the other hand, has slipped a position to ATP Nº 136. The Vitacura native will participate this weekend at the Aracaju Challenger, where his first confrontation will be against Brazilian André Miele.
