Police foil ATM machine robbery in Quilicura

SANTIAGO.- A routine patrol in Quilicura ended in the arrest of seven men who were trying to steal an ATM machine in the banking sector of the municipality. Additionally, police seized the tools the suspects were using to carry out the crime.

At the intersection of Américo Vespucio and the Autopista Central, the suspects were found surrounding the area where several banks are located, and prompted suspicion among police, who proceeded to arrest them. The three men were in a Daewoo Lanus vehicle.

They had also previously detained a Kia Río with four passengers who had criminal records for robbery, illegal arms possession and homicide amongst others.

According to Radio Cooperativa, Police Captain Lincoyán Valenzuela indicated that a metal cutting machine as well as communication devices, metal rods, sharp objects and similar artefacts were seized from the men.
