SANTIAGO.- During an important day for negotiations about salary raises for public employees, the president of the National Association of Public Employees (ANEF), Raúl de la Puente, indicated that the latest government proposal represents an improvement, but that there are still unresolved aspects, over which ANEF offices will have the last word.

Regarding this, he did not wish to give his opinion about the beneficial nature of the proposal nor give clues as to the outcome of today stating, "I have a personal opinion, but I want to represent the opinion of the organization and in order to do that, I need to consult my people".

In any case, he indicated that the latest government proposal, which would offer up to a 6.9% increase in salary from 2007 along with other economic compensation, is "without a doubt, an advance".

During the day, the organizations will meet to reach a definitive solution. Meanwhile, the strike continues today with various protests.
