SANTIAGO.- While performing a routine patrol this morning in the commune of Puente Alto, police arrested a group dedicated to small-scale drug dealing.
The group was captured after officers noticed two suspicious-looking individuals outside of a home.
According to announcements made by Radio Cooperativa, this motivated the police to detain the individuals after they left the scene on bicycles.
Police confirmed that the suspects, identified as Adrián Mercado Droguett and Fabián Vera Ibarra, had purchased drugs.
Mayor José León, of the 20th Commissary of Puente Alto, explained that after examining evidence found during the arrest, police entered the property where drugs were being sold and apprehended six people, all part of a small-time drug ring.
During the raid, the police seized more than 80 grams of marijuana, 54 "base paste" papers, 200 thousand Chilean pesos in cash and an array of electronic appliances.
