ASUNCIÓN.- The Paraguayan press showcased the leadership of its national soccer team in the South American classifications to the World Cup 2010, after its "superb" victory of 3-0 over Chile at their fourth match in the event.
Paraguay leads the South American classification tournament with 10 points, one more than Argentina, and two more than Brazil and Colombia.
"Paraguay finishes the year as leader", was the headline of the newspaper "ABC Color" which also added "the 'Albirroja' defeats Chile 3-0 in Santiago".
"Paraguay at the top", "Paraguay crushed Chile with a 3-0 score and leads the classification", "Paraguay, the 'Main Man'", were the headlines of the newspaper "La Nación".
"Defeated and stomped on", said the newspaper "Última Hora", which deemed the triumph of Gerardo Martino's team "sensational".
"We ate the Chileans alive", announced the newspaper "Popular" on its front page adding, "the Chileans learned to drink 'tereré' (a traditional Paraguyan drink)".
