Passengers are rescued from a cruise liner that collided with an iceberg in Antarctica

All of the passengers are currently in good health.

SANTIAGO.- All of the passengers of the cruse liner "Explorer", which collided with an iceberg early this morning 26 miles from Antartica's King George Island, have been rescued by the boat "Nordnorge".


According to information received from the Chilean Navy, all of those rescued are in good health.


In addition, the ship is currently listing at 30 to 40 degrees. The Navy's icebreaker "Viel", will arrive at the disaster zone in order to assess the situation of the area.


Reports from the Chilean Navy indicated that the accident occurred at 12:24 AM this morning, when the ship suffered a break in the hull, resulting in flooding of the machine room.


Six minutes later, the ship's captain ordered the 100 passengers and 54 crewmembers to evacuate the vessel using lifeboats and rafts.
