SANTIAGO.- Next Monday, in the city of Tocopilla, Minister of Housing, Patricia Poblete, will unveil the extent of the damage caused by the earthquake that affected the city on November 14th of this year and will announce her plans for reconstruction.

This was the information given by the state secretary, who also stated that "the figures have worsened in terms of houses that are damaged and will need to be demolished" compared to the 32% that the government maintained at the beginning of the week.

According to Poblete, "we are going to have to demolish 43% of the houses in Tocopilla".

This means that, of the almost 6,000 registered homes, approximately 2,900 will have to be demolished. Authorities indicated that more than 200 people are working in the zone to accomplish this, thanks to alliances with universities and engineering groups.

The minister deemed this "a great opportunity" to rebuild Tocopilla and guaranteed that the families who lost their homes "are all going to receive a proposal from the Ministry of Housing in order to reconstruct their houses".
