SANTIAGO.- The National Director of Hydraulic Projects for the Ministry of Public Works fell victim to a theft of approximately 10 million pesos at his home, located in the commune of Nuñoa.
According to his wife, Jaqueline Ortiz, the robbery began at 11:15 PM, when four burglars broke into the home at the address Francisco de Miranda 2155.
The woman said that the offenders, one of whom was armed, threatened them and took them to the master bedroom, where he tied them up with telephone cables and put them face-down on the floor, stopping them from being able to identify the invaders' faces.
Arrese was in his home at the time of the invasion, along with his wife Jaqueline Ortiz, and their three children.
After being in the home for 20 minutes, the burglars took five cellular phones, a laptop computer, jewelry, as well as cash and other items.
The case is being investigated by the Police Investigation Unit (SIP) of the 33rd Commissary and by the East Public Attorney's Office.
