SANTIAGO.- Although he admitted speaking to his father, ex President Ricardo Lagos, the outgoing minister, Ricardo Lagos Weber, assured that all of the decisions concerning his resignation were made only by him.
He also mentioned that the only words he received from the ex President were "that's OK, son", after informing him that he would leave the cabinet in order to run in the next parliamentary election.
Regarding candidacy for the Fifth Costal Region, he stated that it is something his party, the Party for Democracy (PPD), wants, but that his motivation is clear, "due to the public aspect and a position in the parliamentary election".
Lagos Weber spoke words of appreciation to the President and admitted to being quite moved during the ceremony performed to make his departure official and inaugurate Francisco Vidal.
Concerning his feelings at the moment, Lagos Weber said that it was too soon to talk about that, since he must get used to speaking as an "ordinary" citizen and that he hasn't "taken all of it in".
He stated that he leaves the position feeling professionally satisfied, and personally rewarded.
