SANITAGO.- After meeting with President Michelle Bachelet and Finance Minister, Andrés Velasco, ex president of the Central Bank, Vittorio Corbo, has stated that President Bachelet does not owe an explanation to anyone regarding changes made in the issuing bank.

He explained that his term lasted until yesterday, December 6th, and that was why he was only allowed to perform his duties until that date.

When asked about whether or not he would like to have kept the position of president to the Central Bank, Corbo only said that he has never responded to hypothetical questions.

Concerning his future, Corbo mentioned that he has received many consultancy job offers and has ruled out leaving the country to work abroad.

Corbo handed over his position to José de Gregorio yesterday and took the opportunity to voice his regrets regarding the surge of inflation that is affecting the country.

Corbo had been president of the Central Bank since May of 2003 and was seen off by a crowd of employees who applauded him until he reached the exit of the building that houses the issuing bank.
