SANTIAGO.- The Bachelet-Alliance duo, made up of Joaquín Lavín and Pablo Longueira, entered La Moneda for the first time since their self-proclamation. Their reason for doing so was in order to meet for 35 minutes with the new Government Spokesperson, Francisco Vidal, to whom they wished luck and promised to help obtain agreements.
As he has often done recent months, the ex president of the Alliance emphasized that he is "on a crusade to change Chile's political atmosphere", a purpose that was appreciated by minister Vidal.
After stressing that the country needs to develop constructive opposition and enhance the importance of the government spokesperson on its way to forming a positive political atmosphere, Joaquín Lavín stated, "we hope that he really is an involved spokesperson who strives for cooperation".
He also said that he does not consider that these types of meetings are taking away from the guidelines of the board of directors, who had harshly criticized Vidal's appointment to the position, calling him "the great protagonist of electoral intervention".
