Jorge Desormeaux has been elected vice president of the Central Bank

The economist has been a councilor for the issuing bank since 1990 and is taking over the position for José de Gregorio, who is the current president of the organization.

SANTIAGO.- The Central Bank Board of Directors has unanimously agreed to appoint Jorge Desormeaux Jiménez to the position of vice president of the issuing bank, a position which had been occupied up until the 7th of this month by the entity’s most recent president, José de Gregorio.


Desormeaux has held the position of Councilor to the Central Bank of Chile since December 7th, 1999.


He has a Master’s degree in Business Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in economic science from the Universidad Católica de Chile. He is currently a Ph.D. Candidate for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


The new vice president of the Central Bank has formerly worked as an economic consultant and has also been the director of many national and international companies; he is currently a member of the Superior Board of Directors for Diego Portales University.
