SANTIAGO.- Minister of Interior Belisario Velasco stated today that the crime against 55 year-old María Soledad Lapostol "is truly a unique case". Officials will be able to determine the classification of the violent crime "later on, after more details are uncovered".
The state secretary reminded the public that the case was initially classified as a homicide, but that the Public Attorney's Office later considered it to be a kidnapping that resulted in death. He stressed however that "the important thing is to find out the details of this tragic incident as soon as possible, so that the offenders or offender can be taken to trial and so that the whole country can know exactly what has transpired".
After assuring that in Chile "every crime is investigated to the fullest extent", the head of the Interior Ministry stated that crime against María Soledad Lapostol "is being swiftly investigated and hopefully, in a few days, we could have a clearer picture".
