SANTIAGO.- Another case of “femicide” was reported early this morning in the capital. This time, a woman identified as 39 year-old Irma Teresa González Ojeda was pronounced dead as she was being taken to a San Bernardo hospital. The woman had been stabbed repeatedly inside a residence located on the street 18 de Septiembre, in the vicinity of Valle Verde.
After intense investigation in the southern part of Santiago, police arrived at the home of her attacker. The suspect, identified as 51 year-old Juan Valida Gálvez, was found dead hanging from a wooden beam.
According to police reports, the incident occurred after Valida Gálvez had arrived at his girlfriend’s house and repeatedly stabbed the woman in the neck. The motive behind the stabbing is still under investigation. González Ojeda later died from her wounds, moments before arriving at the municipality’s Parroquial hospital.
Valida Gálvez´s body has been taken to the offices of Legal Medical Service.
