SANTIAGO. - At approximately 6:30 this morning a Transantiago bus that runs between the neighborhoods of Quilicura and La Cisterna had a short-circuit resulting in a fire that burned the vehicle to ashes.

At the moment when the fire started there were nearly 50 passengers aboard the bus. It was on a side street of Avenida Américo Vespucio, close to the Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport.

Thanks to the quick response of the driver of the 304 line, nobody was injured.

The bus driver, Miguel Ángel Mori, stated that he had been operating the vehicle every day had never had problems before, but emphasized that as soon as he realized something was wrong, the flames had already started.

For now, the bus of locale 3 is in the custody of police, who are waiting for a tow truck to transport it to another location where they will be able to more clearly establish the cause of the circuit short.
