SANTIAGO. -  Minister of Interior Edmundo Pérez Yoma has stated that the government will request extradition in for the former Latauro-movement activists, Marcelo Villarroel and Freddy Fuentevilla.  The two men are suspected of robbing a Banco Security last October — an incident that ended in the murder of Police Officer Luís Moyano Farías.

“I think that with the way things are going and since they were found carrying arms, the most likely scenario is that they will have to first be charged in Argentina and then we will ask for them to be extradited”, said the Minister of Interior.

Pérez Yoma also asserted, “we have done everything possible, we are not going to lose 100% of our hope, but the truth of the matter is that realistically, the Argentine legal system will have to finish its proceedings and then we will be able to put them through ours”.

The Minister of Interior indicated that the Chilean ambassador to Argentina, Luis Maira, is currently responsible for negotiating with the Argentine government.
