SANTIAGO.- Uberlinda Elizondo turned herself in to law enforcement this morning. She was the ring leader of a network that had been forging rulings from the Court of Guarantees.

Elizondo, who worked as a member of the 9th Court of Constitutional Guarantees, had been evading capture since mid-April, when official stamps belonging to the Prison Guards, Oral and Guarantee Courts, and Murder Courts were seized along with templates that were used to forge legal documents, from her home located in the municipality of Cerrillos.

According to North Central Public Prosecutor Nancy González, Elizondo had been falsifying rulings and arrest-warrant revocations. These are documents issued by judges lifting orders to arrest an individual after the suspect has voluntarily appeared before law enforcement.

Elizondo had been sending these documents to the Police Investigations Unit and to the Civil Registry so that police would stop pursuing those wanted for capture.

Until now, the only judicial official ever dismissed from a position was Gloria Navarrete, who had worked for the Fourth Constitutional Court of Guarantees.
