SANTIAGO.- Deputy Marcela Cubillos has said that if socialist Members of Parliament had been the ones opposed to the agreement signed on education, today the most serious issue is that the government has failed to uphold its side of the pact.

“As members of the Alianza, we have always acted in good faith and we will continue to act in good faith, always keeping our word”, Cubillos stated emphatically.

According to Deputy Cubillos, what is most serious and unfortunate is the impact on the people’s trust in the promises that President Bachelet has made since her administration has not kept its word and has decided to stay out of this signed agreement, which was an important step for improving the quality of education in Chile.

Cubillos´ statements come after the minister of Education, Mónica Jiménez, made two amendments yesterday to the General Education Law, which is strongly opposed by high school students.
