Copper plummets more than 3% in London

The red metal closed at US$ 3.12 per pound.

LONDON.- Copper closed with a 3.06% loss today at the London Metal Exchange (LME) after trading for US$ 3.12026 per pound of "grade A" material, compared to US& 3.21869 on Friday and US$ 3.12979 on Thursday.


As a result, the monthly average slipped to US$ 3.22063, while the yearly average fell to US$ 3.64356.


Meanwhile, the future-3-month price ended at US$ 3.09373 per pound, down -3.34% from Friday (US$ 3.20055).


At the LME, stocks rose by 1,275 metric tons to 204,350.
