Woman falls onto subway tracks, suspending service along line 5

SANTIAGO.- The Santiago subway transportation system was interrupted for close to 10 minutes this morning between the stations of Baquedano and Quinta Normal along Line 5.

The temporary suspension in service occurred after a woman accidentally fell onto the subway tracks. The incident was witnessed by several people who were waiting at the platform for the next subway train to arrive.

According to preliminary reports, the woman fainted while standing on the platform at the Plaza de Armas station and fell onto the subway tracks.

As a result of the fall, the woman suffered a cut to her forehead and was taken to a medical center while police arrived to rule out a possible suicide attempt.
