SANTIAGO.- The Beijing ATP tournament is now in the past for Fernando González, the event's defending champion, who left the championship early on.
It is now time for the Tokyo Tournament where, starting this Wednesday at 9:00 AM Chilean time, González will take place in the second round of the Asian tournament.
Gonzaléz will go up against Chinese player Lu Yen Hsun (ATP Nº69). Yen Hsun is currently coming off a 6-4; 7-6 win against Slovak player Luka Gregorc, and has never played against Fernando González before.
According to the event program, Gonzalez will play in a night-time match on center court.
If he continues on in the tournament, which divides up 900 thousand dollars in prizes, González –who took a silver medal at this year’s Beijing Olympics— will face the winner of a match between U.S. players Sam Querrey (ATP Nº39) and Amer Delic (ATP Nº135).
