Police seize 500 million pesos worth of cocaine

SANTIAGO.- Police officers belonging to the OS7 and the Tenencia La Negra de Antofogasta have seized 85 kilos of highly pure cocaine chlorohydrate that was going to be sold in the Santiago municipalities of Renca and Pudahuel.

According to sources, the "Caimán Operation" began on Tuesday of this week, when a Peugeot 407 vehicle was stopped with three individuals inside who possessed 85 packages of the drug in a bag and underneath the floor of the car's trunk.

Afterwards, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Antofogasta was asked to perform an undercover supervision of the delivery of the drugs, valued at close to 500 million pesos, which finally occurred last night in area 14 of the Fama de Renca neigborhood.

There, police arrested the two traffickers along with five other individuals that had been working as "soldiers" for the drug traffickers. Officers also seized the drugs, two million pesos that had been allocated to pay the couriers, as well as a Norinco .45 caliber pistol with 30 units of ammunition.

Later, police went to the home of one of the "soldiers" in the municipality of Pudahuel, where they found a safe box holding another two kilos of the narcotic.
