Ricardo Claro found dead

The business tycoon died this morning after suffering a heart attack.

SANTIAGO.- Business leader Ricardo Claro Valdés (74), who is associated with the Compañía Sudamericana de Vapores and the Mega television channel, died this morning after suffering a heart attack.


According to preliminary information, the business tycoon passed away at approximately 4:00 AM in his home located in the municipality of Las Condes.


Mega announced the news just after 7:30 AM this morning. Claro also controlled the Diario Financiero periodical and Capital magazine.


Additionally, the businessman was linked to properties of CristalChile, Elecmetal, Saam and Viña Santa Rita.


Claro's last public appearance took place last night when he attended the premier of the opera "Las Bodas de Fígaro" at the Municipal Theater.


The time and place of his memorial service will be announced at some point today.
