Young man shot in Providencia listed in critical condition

SANTIAGO. -  A 25 year old man has been listed in serious, life-threatening condition after he was shot in the neck this morning by a suspect on the street of Seminario in the municipality of Providencia.

According to Major Juan Carlos Rodríguez of the 19th Police Station of Providencia, Diego Smith Ebbel-Nehus had arrived 8:00AM this morning to pick up his girlfriend from a building located at Seminario 97.

When the woman opened the door to the building, a man suddenly appeared and began yelling at her and then pushing her.

 The woman then closed the door, leaving Smith outside with the assailant, who reportedly took out a revolver and shot the victim twice.  One of the shots hit Smith in the neck, leaving him seriously injured while the attacker fled the scene.
 
According to a witness, who identified herself as Claudia Dussuel, the attacker was wearing a camouflage jacket, was approximately 1.7 meters tall, bald, of medium build and was carrying a duffle bag at the time of the incident..

After the attack, the victim was taken to the Posta Central medical center, where he is currently receiving treatment while his girlfriend remains in a state of shock.
