Two people killed after car flips over in Estación Central

The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an electrical light post, which caused the car to flip.

SANTIAGO.- An official belonging to the Prison Guard Force and a woman were killed early this morning after the vehicle their were traveling in along with two other people flipped over in the municipality of Estación Central.


Just before 5:00 AM this morning, as the car was traveling east through the intersection of Calle Exposición and Ramón Subercseaux, the driver of the vehicle lost control and collided with an electrical light post, which caused the car to veer off of the roadway and then flip.


Firefighter Lieutenant Juan Padilla stated that "one of the passengers was ejected from the vehicle and died instantly after impacting a fence", while the woman went into cardio-respiratory attack, prompting officials to perform CPR and then transfer her to the Posta Central medical center, although the woman died on the way.


According to Radio Cooperativa, the two fatal victims were identified as Richard Villablance Burgos and Marta Neira Lagos. A third crash victim suffered minor injuries.


Initial police investigations indicate that the crash may have been caused by speeding.
