SANTIAGO.- According to information released by the Central Bank today, Chile reported a trade surplus of US$ 150.5 billion dollars for October, which is 92% lower than the US$ 1.901 billion dollars registered during the same month last year.
According to a poll taken yesterday, analysts had forecasted a trade surplus of US$ 813 million dollars for October.
During the 10th month of 2008, Chile reached exports of US$ 5.5251 billion dollars which is 12.1% less than the figure for October of last year, while imports grew by 22%, to US$ 5.3646 billion dollars.
Between January and October, Chile accumulated a trade surplus of US$ 12.4019 billion –43% lower than the figure for the same period in 2007- with exports of US$ 62.4343 billion and imports of US$ 50.0324 billion dollars.
