SANTIAGO.- The Secretary General of the Organization of American States, José Miguel Insulza, stated today that he is willing to attend the internal primaries for the Concertación as long as he has the support of the PS and PPD.

"I am willing to go to the primaries, as long as I truly have the support of the parties, or at least from my party and the Party for Democracy (PPD)", Insulza told Radio Cooperativa.

The former minister added that "the primaries are the valid way to resolve differences within a coalition and I hope that is what happens, that it be a unified primary, that it helps us to motivate people, to build consensus, that it not be a battle such as those we have seen in recent months".

With regards to timing, Insulza opted not to announce a date for his resignation from the Organization of American States, asserting that there is still time to discuss and negotiate, and that decisions will be made "when appropriate".
