SANTIAGO.-  The recently elected president of the Christian Democracy (DC), Juan Carlos Latorre, has clarified that his call for people to return to the party was never a personalized matter, as was assumed by some PRI members of Parliament, and also mentioned he has no intention of speaking with them.

“When I issued the call (…) I was not thinking about people with names and surnames: I was thinking about the thousands and thousands of people that have been collaborators and members of the DC and who have seen a new opportunity to become part of a common project”, Latorre told Radio Cooperativa.

The new DC president insisted that if at some point there were a desire to speak with a member of the PRI, they will say so.  “There has not been any conversation with them, nor do I intend to seek one out, I don’t see a reason for it”, stated Latorre.
