SANTIAGO. -  The Minister of Interior, Edmundo Pérez Yoma, spoke out today against statements made by RN deputies pressuring DC presidential candidate Eduardo Frei to be transparent about his private assets, assuring that the senator “has absolutely nothing to clarify”.

Pérez Yoma also indicated that all of the records of Frei´s investments can be found on his web page.  “Eduardo Frei´s assets have always been professionally administered.  I am not the one who needs to be giving out details, but I will say that it would be great if other politicians showed the kind of transparency that former President Frei has with regards to his private assets”, stated the minister.

Pérez Yoma added that “if the right wing’s candidate were to do even a tenth of what Frei as done with transparency, it would really help the country”.

The minister assured that the questions posed are due to the fact that “the right wing looks at Frei as the individual with the most potential to defeat Piñera, and that is why it seems they have decided to attack him with everything they’ve got”.

When asked if, in his opinion, the Alianza may be trying to “tie up the score” after the critiques of their candidate, the minister stated that he thinks it is ridiculous if that is indeed the case.
