Man dies after falling onto subway rails

SANTIAGO. -   A man was killed this morning after falling onto the subway rails at the Universidad de Chile station, allegedly on purpose.

This was the indication made by police officers who, for the moment, have no information regarding the identity of the individual.

Due to the incident, subway service was stopped at 10:20AM between stations La Moneda and Universidad Católica along Line 1.

Nevertheless, subway service continued uninterrupted between stations Baquedano and Escuela Miltar as well as between stations Los Héroes and San Pablo.

According to the transportation company, complete service was re-established along Line 1 at 10:51AM.
