UDI to commence lawsuit against Civil Registry

The secretary general of the organization, Víctor Pérez, has said that the objective of the measure is to determine whether State funds were wrongly used or not.

SANTIAGO. – Amid the controversy over an audit performed on the Civil Registry (Registro Civil), UDI secretary general, Senator Víctor Pérez, has announced that a lawsuit will be presented to the courts. The audit was generated by the National Comptroller´s Office and reports serious observations with regards to representation costs during the term of resigned director Gonzalo Arenas.


Pérez added that the information in question will be brought to the public eye, “however, we still don´t know how far this goes”.


That is why, Pérez added, the UDI will present the case “to get to the bottom of the issue and find out what really happened to the millions of pesos in resources that belong to all Chileans”.


The Comptroller´s analysis includes everything from bank settlements to contract fee payments and representation costs.
